Eastway Giant Ants
Sugar will invariably draw ants and no matter what Vicharry tries, it seems like nothing will keep them out of his stock. Talk around the tavern has it that he will reward any that can kill their Queen and bring back proof with a lifetime daily supply of potion infused cupcakes. The Baldur’s Mouth gives their restorative properties a 5 out of 5 Gates.
Pumpking Farm Xvart Raids
The farms outside The Gate are trying to fend off the xvarts as best as they can but how do you best a xvart with a sheep mount? They seem to value the pumpkins higher than corn and as a result are sending their best and boldest in to raid!
Zhent Courier Intercepts
The Flaming Fist patrols the streets, but what happens under them is a free for all. Couriers are rumored to funnel goods and bribes out of the city under The Basilisk Gate, but who do they work for and where do the bribes go?
Shrine of Suffering Carrion Crawlers
Brother Hodges has his hands full trying to care for the cities forgotten. Between running the soup kitchen, his advocacy for the poor with the upper class, and seeing to the last rights of those that cannot afford any other means of interment, he hasn’t been able to find time to clear the infestation of carrion crawlers that has taken hold in the crypts. Perhaps he would accept some help? Perhaps he could even scrounge up some small Ilmateri trinkets as a token of his gratitude?
Eastway Spiders
You didn’t think ants were at the top of the food web did you? The spiders that feed on the colony certainly don’t. It seems they will drag anything they can back down into their lair. Interestingly though it doesn’t seem like they care to digest gems, gold, or potions.
Near Cloakwood Tasloi Camps
At this point the tasloi have become so firmly entrenched in The Cloakwood Forest that the weaker of them are starting to be pushed to the outskirts. The Grand Dukes have become nervous that if their numbers continue to grow they could start to threaten trade or in time even the city itself. It is for this reason they have commissioned a bounty on tasloi ears. How many can you collect before the tasoli collect you?
Xvart Caverns
The camps are great practice but they’re only there to protect the main caverns where the tribe has burrowed itself into deeply. Rumors of strange mushrooms growing in the caverns and Xvarts as big as a house have circulated but who knows how much stock to put into rumors around The Gate?
Cloakwood Scrying Stones
Somethings is keeping the Flaming Fist Wizards from being able to scry on the Cloakwood, and the Fist is getting nervous. Without routine scrying they can’t keep track of the number of Tasloi and Hobgoblins massing in the wood. One clever mage seems to have devised a work around but it requires an individual carry an enchanted stone into the wood and activate it in specific locations. For those brave or sneaky enough the pay is well worth the risk.
Dangerous Patrols
Some patrols are more dangerous than others and if you know you’re heading into enemy territory chances are you’re going to get jumped. The Fist have been having some trouble with Zhent Initiates looking to make a name for themselves that have been attacking any patrols they can find along the lower docks. They are willing to pay well for any brave enough to show these Zhents who really runs the city.
Doppelganger Ghoul’s
Rumor’s circulate about an ancient city below Baldur’s Gate inhabited by undead perhaps they are the source of these ghouls? Regardless of their source they seem drawn to the dark flooded ruins they now inhabit. Hopefully they never find the entrance into the sewers where they could cause some real damage.
Cloakwood Mines Wagon Guard Contracts
Tasloi have been observed throwing themselves under wagon wheels to break carriages traveling between the gate and the Cloakwood mines. To combat these bizarre tactics the owners of the caravans have started offering free trips for any willing to guard the wagons during their journey. If the wagon is attacked and those guarding it are able to fend off the attack they will be paid for their services as well!
Hunting Lodge Wagon Guard Contracts
The tasloi are not limiting their attacks to the wagons traveling to the mines. Larger and more skilled bands are attacking wagons bound for the Sashenstar Hunting lodge. As a result the payout for accepting a trip to the hunting lodge pays out a good deal more than the Mines wagon.
Bannerless Legion Bounty Contracts
The Fist is currently understaffed and overwhelmed with its duties within the city. As a result they have taken to subcontracting with the Bannerless Legion, located above Garmult’s House of Mastery, as a means of making their quotas. Those willing to trade on their renown will find they can stake their names and reputation on bringing back the worst of the worst criminals on the run within the city. But be careful tracking them down is only half the battle!
Near Cloakwood Portals
Portals have started opening within the Cloakwood again. No one knows how or why but they seem to lead to other planes. So far portals to an ice plane, possibly outer Frostfell, and a fire plane, possibly the outer Fountains of Creation, have been reported. Each portal appears to link to a random location within the corresponding plane and no two locations have yet been the same. Those wishing to enter can find powerful reagents but had best make sure they are prepared for the trip with enough elemental resistance to allow them to find the portal home!
