Welcome to

The City

A veritable nest of rats and vipers clinging to the rocky slopes overlooking the Chionthar River. From their high perches in the Upper City, the local nobles—known as patriars—gaze down with veiled contempt upon the common rabble in the grimy Lower City, which hugs the foggy harbor. The whole of Baldur’s Gate reeks of blood, crime, and opportunity. One can easily fathom why pirates and traders are drawn to this place like flies to a carcass.

The Elfsong Tavern

Those who seek adventure in Baldur’s Gate often gather at the Elfsong Tavern. There are always groups of aspiring adventures ready to team up for a chance to strike it rich. The bartender and proprietor Alan has gained a reputation for making it his business to know everything that goes on in his pocket of the city. He’s taken to maintaining a job posting board prominently featured outside the tavern, and always makes sure to ask any takers to let the poster know who sent them.

Merchants Lane

New adventurers often cut their teeth searching for potion components in the sewer basin below Merchants Lane. Thankfully Mortimer Mortar of Mortar and Pestle Potions both buys those components and sells potions that keep you alive to procure more. In fact every shop on the Lane has evolved to cater around the ochre hunter ecosystem that the endless supply of new adventurers provides. Raman’s Arms has every weapon an up and coming adventurer could need. Moving targets has all your ranged options nocked, and Anvil’s Labor Armory has your covered.
